AFL Foundation Sponsors Career Quest

For the fourth year in a row, AFL Spartanburg's Foundation Committee decided to sponsor Career Quest, a vendor fair that provides an opportunity for students in grades 6 – 12. Students and their parents visited with local companies in Spartanburg, Union, and Cherokee counties in South Carolina and talked with representatives about potential career paths. From engineering to marketing, AFL brought a full suite of careers to the event!

AFL had a tabletop display to showcase both the product and services sides of our business. Fiber optic cable samples were displayed with demonstrations of our fusion splicers and test equipment taking place to grab attention of all attendees. Children and parents were engaged by AFL representatives who took time to explain fiber optics – the field, the products/services, and the markets they serve.

AFL volunteers include:

David Bryson, Recruiter

Eric Steadman, Technical Representative/Fusion Splicing Systems

Alaina West, Administrative Assistant

Kevin Watson, Web Manager

In addition, AFL provided a laptop computer door prize for one lucky student. This year's door prize went to Brandon Newman from Gable Middle School.
