Originally founded in Greer, South Carolina in 1987, the company was acquired, rebranded as Adex Machining Technologies, and relocated to Greenville in 2007.  The company today boasts a skilled workforce of nearly 50 associates operating on a 24 x 7 capacity schedule and utilizing highly advanced 5-Axis CNC Milling, VTL, EDM, CAD/CAM Software, and CMM inspection capabilities.  

The organization specializes in advanced machining of prototypes and new product development projects, just-in-time contract manufacturing, and working with exotic “super-alloys” such as Inconel, Titanium, and other high-nickel or cobalt-based materials. Adex was recently named as one of Inc. Magazine’s “Fastest Growing Companies” and also selected by The Boeing Company as the only precision machining candidate for the mentor-protégé supplier development program.

A fully-licensed Federal Aviation Repair Station (FAR 145), Adex is also certified in ISO 9001 and AS 9100 business systems to meet strict quality requirements, machines components in sizes up to 40” diameter (1016mm), and tight tolerances to .0002” (.005mm).  Applications include jet engine rotating components, rocketry propulsion, warheads, torpedoes, helicopter structural parts, and industrial gas turbine combustion hardware for Fortune 500 aerospace, defense and energy customers.

The expansion includes the addition of two additional 5-axis and VTL CNC equipment and up-fitting of the existing 25,000-square-foot facility at 260 Feaster Road to “add capabilities and create more high-wage jobs in response to growing demand for advanced machining applications,” said Sean Witty, co-owner.  Adex worked closely with Greer State Bank and the Appalachian Development Corporation on a small business administration (SBA) loan to facilitate the expansion and job creation.

The jobs being added include engineering, quality support positions, and machinist technicians, Witty noted, and already include the addition of “several very smart and talented individuals who were previously unemployed, which is very exciting for us, for them, and for the Greenville community.”  To fill the remaining positions, Adex is currently working with readySC in the recruiting and training of master machinists and apprentices.  All positions being recruited for pay “well-above-market wages with full benefits based on experience, ranging from $24 to over $30 per hour,” Witty added.  Persons interested in being considered for positions should submit resumes via email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
