Charleston Marine Containers, Inc (CMCI) emerged from a startup company in 1996 to a top tier supplier in developing logistic solutions for the United States Military. Located off the banks of the Cooper River in Charleston, South Carolina, CMCI was the first company that came into the former Charleston Naval Base as an industrial facility upon the base's closure. Employing 170 associates and representing 5 counties in the low country, CMCI is known for their specialized containers that are smaller than the normal 40 foot containers. Over 39,000 containers have been produced and delivered to the US Army, Marine Corp, and Navy. Of these containers, it has been estimated that half have been deployed within the past years to Iraq or Afghanistan.
